The Malabar Woodshrike is endemic to India's Western Ghats. It is found at evergreen-forest edges and clearings, often in pairs or small groups.
Adults have dark grey-brown upperparts and browner flight feathers. The broad facial mask lacks a pale eyebrow; the rump is white and the tail is dark.
It uses evergreen-forest edges and clearings, occurs in pairs or groups of about five to ten, and may join mixed-species groups. Its food includes insects and grubs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
