The Bar-breasted Firefinch has pink markings on the face and belly. It ranges from western Africa to parts of eastern Africa and forages in grassland and savanna near rivers.
The forehead, lores, and sides of the head are pink. The upper belly is pink with white spots bordered in dark; females are similar but duller.
Among tall grasses and brush in riverbank savanna, it eats small seeds, especially grass seeds, and some insects.
The feathers covering the base of the tail from above are red.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
