The Mistratoan yellow-shouldered bat is known from one specimen from the western Colombian Andes. Its description notes a dark-brown back, gray shoulder patches, and a short, furred tail membrane.
The dorsal fur is dark brown, becoming lighter toward the sides and underside. Gray glandular patches occur on the shoulders; the hind legs and feet are densely covered with long hairs, and the tail membrane is short and furred.
The treatment describes the species as nocturnal and reports only the holotype. Specific habitat at the type locality is not known.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
