The Sumban leaf-nosed bat is recorded on Sumba, Roti, Sumbawa and Flores and other Indonesian islands, as well as in Timor-Leste. It occurs from sea level to 1,000 m and roosts in caves and house roofs.
The Sumba subspecies has darker fur on the lower back and a larger area of paler fur over the shoulder and neck than related forms.
It flies low while hunting insects. Caves and house roofs are documented roosts. Large roosting colonies have been suspected, but those reports have not been verified.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
