This small mouse has a dark-brown back finely mixed with orange and a white to yellowish-white underside. The original description reported it from Marajó Island in northern Brazil.
The back is dark brown with fine orange speckles. The underside ranges from white to yellowish white, separated by a thin orange line. Its tail is bicolored and its whiskers are long and dark.
Of nine specimens with trapping records in the original description, eight were caught in pitfall traps and one in a Sherman box trap on the ground. These records do not show that the species lives exclusively on the ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
