The Pale Rosefinch ranges from northern and central Afghanistan into western and central China. A report also documents a bird at Turtuk, India, but its subspecies was not determined.
The male reported at Turtuk had grey head and upperparts, with rose color limited to the face and chest, not extending to the lower abdomen or vent. Some Chinese specimens are sandier above.
It uses open grassland, rocky areas, and desert at 2,000–3,350 m. Oiseaux.net classifies it as terrestrial and omnivorous.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
