This small wood-wren was described from the Munchique massif in the Western Andes of Colombia. The paper reports it from a narrow band of very wet cloud forest where fog is nearly continuous.
Its belly has distinct bars. Compared with nearby wood-wren forms, the original description reports a shorter tail and longer lower legs.
It occurs in dense lower growth within stunted cloud forest where fog is frequent. The study area included a record at about 2,350 m.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
