This mouse was described from mountains in Yunnan, China. The original paper reports several Yunnan localities and an azalea-shrub type locality at high elevation.
The body is brown and the long, slender tail is grayish-white with sparse short white hairs. A few longer dark hairs occur at the tip.
The species distribution account reports a collection setting with azalea shrubs.
