A shrew with a dark brown back and a paler grayish underside. A study in Yakutia recorded it in moist places with grass and leaf cover.
The back is dark brown, the flanks are paler, and the underside ranges from buffy gray to smoky gray. The tail is differently colored above and below.
A South Yakutia study associated it with moderately moist sites with developed ground vegetation and leaf litter, recording it in birch–larch forest, sedge wetlands, and forest edges.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
