The Red Hocicudo occurs in grasslands and steppes in Argentina. It has dark-lined brown fur with ochre sides and rump, and feeds on small animals in the soil near waterways.
The back is cinnamon to dark brown with black lines, while the rump and sides are ochre; some individuals are more reddish.
In grasslands and steppes, it is associated with dense cover near streams, lagoons, and rocky outcrops, where it feeds on small soil invertebrates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
