The Red-spectacled Amazon is a South American parrot with red feathers on a mostly green body. It is centered in southern Brazil, and its grouping and food sources vary between breeding and nonbreeding periods.
Adult males are mostly green, with red feathers from the forehead around the eyes. Females have red mixed with green along the wing edge, with less red overall. Its bill is pale, and it has a white eye-ring.
It occurs in pairs while breeding and gathers in flocks at communal night roosts outside the breeding period. Foods vary seasonally, with the Brazilian population focusing on Araucaria seeds in winter.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
