A parrot of Sulawesi and nearby Indonesian islands. It has a green body and blue rump; males have a red bill, while females have a pale bill.
It is about 32 cm long, with dark green head, wings, and tail, a lighter green belly and collar, blue at the wing bends, and a blue rump. Males have red bills; females have pale yellow or horn-colored bills.
It inhabits forests and woodlands from sea level to low mountains and feeds on fruit and ripening corn. It feeds by day and, in some places, also at night.
