An oriole endemic to St. Lucia. Black plumage is sharply set off by russet-orange patches, and it has a long, slender bill.
Most of the body is black, with russet-orange plumage on the rump, belly, shoulders, and undertail. The bill is slender, sharp, and nearly straight along its upper ridge.
It strips bark to find hidden insects and also eats fruit and nectar. It weaves plant fibers into a hanging nest attached to banana or coconut leaves.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
