A 2022 study treats Blue-crowned Laughingthrush (then named Garrulax courtoisi in the paper) as breeding in low-elevation Wuyuan, the only confirmed population discussed there.
The crown and occiput are dark blue, and the edges of the primaries are blue. The underparts are yellow, with grayish flanks.
In lowland Wuyuan, it nests in large trees in small forest patches and in isolated old trees in or near riverside villages. Thin vines, grass, and palm silk are reported as main nest materials.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
