This small bat is recorded in northern and western Madagascar and on Anjouan in the Comoros. Its type series was collected in a cave in Ankarana's dry canyon forest.
The dorsal fur has dark-brown tones.
The type specimens were caught in a harp trap just inside First River Cave, in a canyon of Ankarana where dry deciduous forest grows.
