A small finch of Brazil's Cerrado. In Bolivia it has been recorded at a few scattered sites in the north, where it also searches the ground in young growth after fires.
The female has a crest that is smaller than the male's but still noticeable.
Bolivian populations use cerrado, including rocky and open grassland, and search young post-fire growth. They forage mainly on the ground alone, in pairs, or in small flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
