The Alpine pine vole is a small vole recorded across the Alps and Apennines, from grasslands to forested sites.
It is small and resembles a related vole, but averages slightly larger and has a somewhat paler coat. Some individuals in the Vercors and nearby areas have ochre flanks.
Its winter diet differs among grasslands. Voles in wet grassland eat bulbs, tubers, and roots, while those in drier grassland eat grass stems.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
