This small bird lives in forests around Tasmania. It has an olive-brown back and pale, gray-streaked underparts, and searches for insects near the ground in moist forest.
The upperparts are dark olive-brown, with russet on the back, rump, and upper tail. The underparts are dull cream with gray streaking, and a black shoulder patch is overlaid with white. Males have a blacker area before the eye; females are less contrasting.
It prefers dense forest, including rainforest and moist gullies, and is usually seen on or near the ground. It eats insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
