The Emerald Tanager searches for fruit in the canopy of humid montane forest and also finds small invertebrates in moss on branches.
It resembles the Golden Tanager but is lime green overall.
It mainly eats fruit but also probes moss on branches with its bill for insects and other invertebrates. Observed nests were made of moss or covered with it.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
