The Nigerian shrew is a relatively large white-toothed shrew found from West Africa to Cameroon and Bioko Island. At one Nigerian forest reserve, breeding peaked in the wet season.
It is relatively large, with very dark brown, grizzled fur above and paler dark gray or grayish-brown fur below. Its hairy tail is dark brown.
It occurs mainly in rainforest, but also in farms, grasslands, and relict forest in savanna mosaics. At Ogba Forest Reserve in Nigeria, breeding was greatest in the wet season and low in the dry season.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
