This deer mouse has been studied in a Guatemalan cloud forest. Its color description is limited to type-locality specimens, and reproductive records come from one field site.
A 2010 comparative study described the type-locality sample as rich brown. This description applies to that population sample.
At Chelemhá Cloud Forest Reserve in Guatemala, a January 2007 sample recorded two lactating females among 21 females.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
