This tube-nosed fruit bat was described from specimens collected on New Ireland. The original description was based on two males.
It has a dark stripe along the back, spots on the wings and ears, and nostrils that project like tubes.
The original account identifies it as a fruit bat but does not report direct observations of this species feeding or roosting.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
