This small horseshoe bat is recorded from southern Thailand through Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore to Sumatra. Its glossy coat and elaborate noseleaf are distinctive.
It has reddish-brown or dark-grey colour phases. Both have glossy fur with paler hair tips, and an elaborate noseleaf with a horseshoe, bifurcated connecting process, and pointed lancet.
It roosts in caves, boulder crevices, tunnels, and culverts. Day activity has been reported on Tioman Island; a bat on Penang was observed feeding on fruit flies attracted to empty durian husks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
