Rhinolophus alticolus is a horseshoe bat recorded at several western and central African locations. Its back is dark to grayish brown and its underside is paler; roost records include caves and abandoned mines. HMW 2019 separates it from R. simulator but notes that genetic material was unavailable and further study was needed.
The dorsal fur ranges from dark brown to grayish brown, with paler hair bases. The underside is distinctly paler, and the ears are short.
Habitat records differ by location: lowland rainforest in Cameroon, forest–savanna mosaic on Nigeria's Jos Plateau, and montane forest on Mount Nimba. It is nocturnal and has been recorded roosting in caves and abandoned mines.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
