Heuglin's Lemniscomys is an African striped grass mouse. A phylogenetic study places it in the barbarus group, whose members have several pale longitudinal stripes on the back.
The barbarus group is characterized by multiple pale longitudinal stripes over a darker back; the phylogeny places L. zebra in that group.
The IUCN assessment lists grassy woodland and Guinean-Sudanian savanna, with records also from burnt or cultivated areas.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
