The Mitred Parakeet is a green parakeet with a red face and a long tail. Its native range is on the eastern Andean foothills of southern South America, while escaped birds have formed local feral populations in parts of the United States.
It has a green body and a long, pointed tail. Red feathers mark the forehead and parts of the face, with a little red on the leading edge of the wing. The sexes look alike.
It gives a high, ringing call in flight. It may also join mixed flocks with the similar Red-masked Parakeet.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
