The Chinese Sparrowhawk is a migratory raptor with narrow, pointed wings. Adult males and females differ in the color of their upperparts and underparts as it moves between East and Southeast Asia.
In flight, the pointed wing shows four fingers and the underwing-coverts are nearly unmarked. Adult males have grey upperparts; females are browner.
In a South Korean breeding-bird study, there was moderate evidence that Chinese Sparrowhawks were present in fewer survey areas.
Areas with more rice fields were also associated with the lowest estimated local disappearance rate for this species.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
