The Olive-backed Oriole lives in semi-open woodland and eucalypt forest. It has an olive back, red eye, and streaked pale underparts.
Its head and back are olive-green, its wings and tail gray, and its cream underparts are streaked brown. It has a bright red eye and reddish bill. Females have a duller green back and streaking that extends up to the chin.
It eats fruit, berries, seeds, nectar, and insects. The female builds a cup nest bound with spider webs, while the male helps feed the young.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
