This shrew tenrec is recorded from Madagascar's eastern forest belt. Adult specimens in a revision had tails much longer than the head-and-body.
In the adult specimens measured for the revision, the tail was about twice the head-and-body length.
Species-specific field observations of activity and diet are scarce. The 1987 account lists a forest collection record but does not establish its foraging place or hours of activity.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
