The Speckle-fronted Weaver is a small bird marked by a black, white-speckled crown and a chestnut nape. It feeds mainly on seeds on the ground, living in pairs during breeding and in flocks at other times.
The black feathers on the forehead and crown have white tips, forming a speckled pattern. The cheeks are pale gray and the nape is chestnut; the sexes look alike.
It feeds mainly on seeds on open ground and sometimes picks up small insects. It lives in pairs during the breeding season and usually in small flocks outside it.
