This arboreal mouse lives in French Guianan rainforest. It has a reddish-brown back, white underside, and a tuft of hair at the end of its long tail.
Adults have bright tawny to reddish-brown fur on the back and pure white fur underneath. The tail hairs are relatively long and form a tuft at the tip that conceals the scales.
It is arboreal, and nearly all known French Guianan captures have been in primary forest. A few animals were recorded in secondary growth and in village houses.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
