A study in Costa Rica's Talamanca Mountains recorded this pocket mouse in mature cloud-forest plots; the few measured animals had tails longer than their bodies.
In the three animals measured in the study, the tail was longer than the head-and-body length.
In the upper Río Savegre study area, it was captured in mature-forest plots and was not recorded in the heavily disturbed pasture plots.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
