This small forest bird has a grayish head and rufous-brown back. It stays in the lower forest growth and searches for food in pairs or small groups.
It is about 13–14.5 cm long. The crown is olive-gray, the back rufous-tinged olive-brown, and the chin and throat grayish white.
It eats invertebrates, berries and seeds. Pairs or small groups join mixed-species bird flocks and forage around army-ant swarms.
It builds a sturdy cup nest of green moss, dry leaves and plant stems.
The breast is grey and the belly paler, with rich brown flanks and undertail-coverts.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
