This flowerpecker is recorded in Borneo's lowland forests. Its formal description was based on an adult female collected in Sarawak.
The adult female type specimen was gray and white, with thin white arcs above and below the eyes. A white throat stripe extends down the underside, while the upperparts are dark gray.
It has been recorded in lowland forest and is often seen near fruiting mistletoes. The type specimen contained a small jumping spider in its stomach and mistletoe seeds in its intestine.
