This rodent was recorded in forests of Brazil. Its ears and feet have dark-brown hairs; the original specimens came from a stream valley and a forested slope.

One female in the original description was captured in the valley of a clear stream surrounded by primary forest. A male came from a primary-forest slope about 650 m away; crustacean remains were found in this male’s stomach.
