This grey raptor has a banded tail. In East African grasslands and open woodland, it searches for prey from a perch.
Adults are mainly grey, with black-and-white bands on the tail. They have the hooked bill and sharp talons typical of a raptor.
It perches in grassland and savanna, including on trees or poles, and searches for small prey on the ground. It occurs in open, dry East African landscapes.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
