This large tyrant occurs in dry hills of central Chile. Breeding records describe slopes with thorny shrubs, cacti, and Puya bromeliads.
It is about 26 cm long, with a strong hooked bill, a white throat marked by vertical black streaks, a cinnamon belly and undertail, and a dark tail.
During a central Chile breeding study, adults carried mostly understory prey to the nest and also ate fruit after breeding.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
