This bird occurs in humid Atlantic Forest in southeastern Bahia, Brazil. Researchers recorded it in the canopy of tall trees retained over cocoa plantations.
Adults are described as blackish grey without rufous plumage, with stout, bright pink legs. Juveniles differ from adults.
It uses the canopy and subcanopy of humid forest. Researchers observed it feeding while hanging upside down from branches of native shade trees over cocoa, a posture also illustrated in the paper.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
