Lepidopygia nana is a small finch found widely across Madagascar. It eats grass seeds and often forages in flocks of its own species.
Adults have a grey head and face, with black lores and throat forming a small bib. The underparts are pinkish buff. The sexes are similar; juveniles lack the dark lores and bib.
It frequents dry scrub, grassland, and cultivated areas such as ricefields. In open places it searches for small seeds of grasses and other herbs, often feeding in single-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
