Schlegel’s Asity is a forest bird restricted to northwestern and western Madagascar. It eats more fruit in the rainy season and also takes nectar and insects toward the end of the dry season.
A breeding male has a black head, bright yellow body, and blue-green bare skin ornaments above the eyes. Females and nonbreeding males are much duller and more olive-brown.
It forages from the canopy to the understory, usually alone but sometimes in small groups outside the breeding season. Small fruits are important in the rainy season, while nectar and insects are used more toward the late dry season.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
