The Ocellated Crake hides in grassland and mixed grass-and-shrub habitat. In Peru, the Peru Aves account reports it from Pampas del Heath in the southeast.
Its upperparts are olive brown with white, black-edged, drop-shaped spots. The forehead and underparts are reddish brown, and the legs are red.
The account says it favors open grassland and mixed grass-and-shrub habitat, where it is difficult to see.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
