This bat ranges across South and Southeast Asia. A 2026 checklist added three female records from lowland mixed forest in southern Vietnam.
The external tail is virtually absent and the interfemoral membrane is slightly reduced. The wings are broad and rounded, and the rounded ears have prominent antitragal lobes.
Three females were recorded in lowland mixed forest including secondary forest on Co To Mountain in southern Vietnam. One was pregnant and two had previously given birth.
