This roughly 12 cm hummingbird lives on the western slope of the northern Andes. Green upperparts, gray underparts, and dark throat and upper-breast speckles help identify it.
It is about 12 cm long. The upperparts are green and the underparts gray, with greenish sides to the chest. Dark speckles mark the throat and upper breast; the black bill is slightly curved.
A field study in Cajamarca, Peru, recorded it using flowers of 14 plant species.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
