The Mountain Avocetbill occurs in the eastern Andes of Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador. It has green upperparts, a copper-toned head, and a bill whose tip turns upward.
The upperparts and tail are green, the head has a coppery tinge, and the pale throat and breast are finely speckled. The black bill has an upturned wedge at its tip.
It occurs at forest edges and in semi-open areas of montane forest on the eastern slope of the Andes.
