The Ameline Swiftlet occurs on Philippine islands and Balambangan Island off northern Borneo. It flies over forests and open habitats.
The upperparts are gray-brown and the underside is paler gray-brown. Its tail is moderately forked, and the account notes plumage variation among subspecies.
It uses forest and other densely vegetated habitats and feeds on invertebrates.
In the Philippine lowlands it occurs alone or in loose groups over open habitats, often soaring high.
In a Palawan cave in September 1990, echolocation clicks decreased or stopped near bright lights or the naturally lit entrance.
In trials in the dark part of that cave, birds struck 3.2 mm ropes more often than 6.3 mm or 10 mm ropes.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
