The northern flying squirrel lives in northern coniferous forests and has white-and-gray belly fur and reddish fur along its back.
The underside is white and gray, while the back is reddish. The National Park Service comparison describes it as slightly larger than the southern flying squirrel.
It mainly eats seeds, nuts, and fungi, and uses dense canopies in coniferous forests.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
