This antwren was described from the Aripuanã–Machado interfluvium in central Amazonian Brazil, where it occurs in campinarana forest on poor soils.
Males have a gray head and back with a white supercilium. Females have an orange forehead and pale cream throat, with more white on the underparts than males.
It forages in the canopy with mixed-species flocks; stomach contents included insects and spiders. Its main habitat is campinarana on nutrient-poor, poorly drained soils.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
