This species is endemic to São Tomé. A 2001–2002 survey reported higher mist-net capture rates in mossy montane primary forest and caught more, larger males than females.
The adult female in the published photograph has a dark brown back.
Mist-net capture rates were higher in mossy and montane primary forest than in lowland primary forest or cultivated sites. Captures peaked at 06:00–08:00 and were rare after 14:00.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
