The Bohol Sunbird is recorded on Bohol Island. The male description notes metallic blue plumage and small scarlet breast spots; a 2016 field report records one male feeding high in a tree.
The male type, collected at Guindulman on 4 June 1906, had a metallic blue-violet forehead, dark green crown and back, and a pale yellow rump. Its pale yellow throat and breast carried a few small scarlet spots; the wing coverts and secondaries, upper tail-coverts, and edges of the tail feathers showed metallic blue. A female collected at Sevilla on 23 March 1906 had olive-green upperparts, a pale yellow rump, with a whitish chin, throat and breast and very pale yellow remaining underparts.
During a May 2016 birding trip, one male was found feeding high in a tree on Brahminy Trail near the Oriole Trail junction in Rajah Sikatuna Nature Reserve. The reserve’s trails pass through lowland jungle.
