The Valais shrew is a small shrew of mountains in southwestern Europe. It has also been recorded feeding on aquatic insects along alpine lake shores.
The upperparts are dark brown and the underside is paler. The tooth tips are reddish.
A 2024 study at lakes in the western Italian Alps found this shrew along lake edges, feeding on aquatic insects. This is a local study result, not a complete diet account for the species.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
